The cost of an eye exam varies depending on the specific type of examination you require and the services you choose.

Medical Insurance:

Medical insurance covers for medical eye exams. Medical eye exam is an exam to check the health of both the front and back of the eyes. Examples include dry eyes, red eyes, itchy eyes, glaucoma testing, diabetic retinopathy, hypertensive retinopathy and age related macular degeneration. Medical insurance does not cover routine vision exams for updating glasses or contact lens prescriptions (refraction).

Vision Insurance:

A refraction is an eye exam that determines your prescription for eyeglasses. This vision exam is covered by your vision insurance, some may also provide allowances for glasses and contact lenses.

However, Medicare and most medical insurance plans do not cover refraction.

If you have both types of insurance, please bring both cards to your appointment.

It's important for you to understand your insurance coverage before your appointment. We recommend that you contact your insurance provider directly to find out the details of your benefits. As a courtesy, we can help you verify as well. Please note it is your responsibility to be aware of your coverage to avoid any unexpected charges.

We welcome patients of all ages, from infants to geriatric. Our doctor also specializes in myopia management, vision therapy, special needs children, head trauma and dry eye therapy.

If your child's vision is deteriorating each year, we provide several effective myopia management options, including Orthokeratology (Ortho-K), MiSight contact lenses, and Atropine eye drops. For more comprehensive information, please visit our Myopia Management page.

We recommend that adults get their eyes dilated once a year. However, if you prefer not to undergo dilation, we offer advanced 3D retinal imaging as a safe alternative. For seniors, individuals with diabetes, or those experiencing flashes or floaters, dilation may still be necessary for a comprehensive examination. Please bring in your sunglasses in case you need to be dilated. Please note you will not be able to read or do up close work for 4-6 hours after dilation.

Please bring a valid driver's license or photo ID and your medical and/or vision insurance cards, along with all your eyewears, including sunglasses, glasses, and contact lenses.

If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please notify us at least 48 hours in advance. Cancellations or missed appointments without proper notice will incur a $50 fee.
